Declared World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1977, the Juan Fernández Archipelago stands out for its untamed nature and high level of endemism both on land and at sea. Nature is the absolute protagonist and all activities revolve around the enormous ecological wealth of the place. Immerse yourself in its pristine waters, explore its dense forests on foot or on horseback, follow its historic routes and let yourself be surprised by the dramatic views of its cliffs that drop vertically into the sea.
Activities are concentrated on Robinson Crusoe Island. Due to the remote geographical location and difficult access, no tourist activities take place on the Desventuradas Islands.
¡Keep it wild!
The ecosystems of Juan Fernández are a natural treasure, and the community has
decided to protect this, opting for a sustainable life model. This is why they invite
those who visit the island to act with respect and care for its nature and biodiversity,
ensuring that they help maintain its balance and avoid any activity that could impact
its cycles.
Don’t try and change it, let it change you.
As a model of marine conservation and sustainability, the community of Juan Fernández has promoted the generation of over 600,000 km2 of protected marine areas. It is considered to be a benchmark for the world’s fishing communities as well as an example of hope for oceans.
