Juan Fernández manages to surprise, with a great variety of species that only exist on the waters and lands of this archipelago. There are 15 species of resident breeding birds, 3 of which are endemic land birds; 135 plants that are only found here; over 440 species of endemic invertebrates; and a rich marine fauna with a high rate of endemism – whose existence depends on these islands and their environment.
