As in any location, each season has its charm. However, most people who visit the island prefer the months, between October and March, with warmer temperatures, less rain and longer days. During the summer months there are also more frequent flights.
The Juan Fernández Archipelago has a warm temperate climate with rainfall concentrated mainly between the months of April and October. During the winter months the average temperature is 12°C and in the summer the average temperature is 19°C.

In order to protect the local ecosystem, the entry of pets and animals of any kind from the continent is strictly regulated by the National Agricultural Service (SAG) and CONAF, so authorization must be requested. Remember that 99% of the territory is a National Park.
While many locals drink tap water, tourists and foreigners are advised to consume filtered water.
On the island there are stores with basic supplies and food for regular consumption. However, it is difficult to find special products for celiacs, vegans, kosher or others, so if you have specific dietary needs, we recommend that you bring these products from the mainland. Remember that you can carry a maximum of 10 kilos of luggage on planes, so you must plan this carefully.
There are no banks or ATMs, only Caja Vecina and Banco Estado, therefore it is essential to travel with cash.
Not all places have a credit or debit card payment system, so you will need to bring cash.
There is only one pharmacy on the island and only one Rural Health Hospital with basic services in case of an emergency, so travelers are recommended to bring their usual medication for the entire stay.
There are no dangerous animals or insects in the Juan Fernández Archipelago; neither tropical diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. However, it is recommended to use insect repellent, especially during the afternoons to avoid mosquito bites.
There are some self-guided routes within the National Park, but it is recommended to hire the services of an accredited guide.
In recent years, progress has been made in enabling access for people with reduced mobility in different parts of the island. We are aware of the shortcomings however, and we’re working on it.
